Mia's Pizza -- Bethesda

A few weeks ago, Gary and I ventured up to Montgomery County to visit a financial planner as we get ready to join our money-- and lives!-- together. (Wedding in 70 days... wowza!) Since I've wanted to go there for a while, we took this as a great opportunity to head to Mia's for dinner.

I'd just like to note that traffic in Bethesda at rush hour is a nightmare. Okay, now that that's out of the way, on to pizza...

We got some salads, and split a margherita pizza (my favorite). We sat right next to the big wood burning oven, and the pizza came to us hot, topped with a little drizzle of olive oil around the crust right before serving. It was cut into four giant slices.

I enjoyed the pizza from Mia's. It had a nice crispy crust and good flavor.

Gary would like to note that Mia's had the nicest smelling restrooms he has ever encountered.

But what about the pizza? Gary feels that it was not that memorable. It was a nice pie, but didn't have anything "wow" about it.

All in all, we would go to Mia's again if we were up in Bethesda. Would we fight traffic to get there? Probably not.

Liza's rating: 3.0 stars
Gary's rating: 2.5 stars

Mia's pizza was, well, how should I put this -- expensive and not memorable. They draw families in with a cupcake dessert for $2.50 per cupcake, and it tasted like it had been frozen. The service seemed inattentive. We certainly won't be going back.

Boy, I should have listened to the anonymous commenter and not gary and lisa. Went to Mia's tonight and surely won't be back. Terrible service and high prices made for a night out we did not enjoy.

What happened to this place? Food was so-so after what we remembered to be good pizza -- and the wait staff!?!?! Where does Mia find them? I don't need to pay for such surly service.

I will use the gas to g et to Paridiso or 2 AMy's or even Mamma Lucia but not Mia's again. Expensive, indifferent service -- who needs it?

I'm quite surprised by the review and the comments. My GF and i have been there many times in the last couple years and we absolutely love it. We like it much better than the nonetheless excellent pizzas at Pizzeria/Birreria Paradiso or Rustico. Fantastic fresh gourmet ingredients and the dough is superb: crispy and flavorful, scrumptiously brushed with olive oil on the edges. We've never had any issues with service. The place can get crowded so we avoid peak hours.
Also, try their half fresh lemonade and half ice tea (aka. A. Palmer) it's divine, tastes like tamarind.
